HOW TO APPLY

A simple guide to getting your UAE visa

South African citizens (and citizens of the other Southern African countries we serve) require a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates. Here's how the application process works.

Visa Types Available

  • 30-Day Single Entry — valid for up to 30 days from arrival
  • 30-Day Multiple Entry — valid for up to 30 days from first entry
  • 60-Day Single Entry — valid for up to 60 days from arrival
  • 60-Day Multiple Entry — valid for up to 60 days from first entry

See current pricing on our UAE Visa Cost page.

Two Ways to Apply

Through an airline: Some airlines (such as Emirates and Etihad) let you apply directly via their "Manage Your Booking" tool — completing an online form, uploading documents, and receiving approval by email.

Through an authorised visa provider: Apply through DVSA — we handle the submission and paperwork on your behalf, with approval typically within 5 business days.

Required Documents

  • Completed application form
  • Colour headshot photo with a white background
  • Valid passport copy (minimum 6 months validity)
  • Return flight confirmation
  • Hotel booking confirmation or tenancy agreement

When to Apply

We recommend applying around 30 days before your travel date — early enough to allow for any document corrections, but close enough that your visa remains valid for your trip.
